NPC Bikini Competitor, YouTuber & Fitness Model
Hey guys! My name is Yami and I am a NCSF certified personal trainer, online coach, athlete, YouTuber, NPC Bikini Competitor & model. I have been training online and in person for the last 3 years and to my surprise, during this time, that is when I found my deepest passion: helping others become the person they most want to be and reach their truest potential.

I wasn’t always all these things, though. For a long time, I wanted to be stick thin and model full time. So how did I get here? Well, let me explain:

Let’s start from the beginning. I moved to New York City about 8 years ago to pursue the glamorous world of modeling (could you sense the sarcasm?) and make my dreams of gracing the covers of all the major magazines come true. To make a VERY long story short, every agency I visited with hopes of being signed to told me that I was either too fat, my butt was too big, or that “I will never make my dreams come true because the way my body is built”. It seemed like everywhere I went, my body was THE PROBLEM. So what did I do? I tried to fix it and tried every diet in the book. The ‘no carb’,’ atkins’,’ all protein’,’ raw diet’, you name it, I tried it. It really sucks to say this but I even got to the point where I was barely eating during the week in hopes of getting my body to reach a certain point and then on the weekends, I would binge like it was my last day eating anything. THAT got ugly real fast. I would also workout 24/7. I refer to my old self as a 'cardio bunny'. I would wake up at 4:30am, get the the gym by 5am, jump on the elliptical for 2 hours then do abs. Repeat that again at 8pm (probably with a hot yoga class thrown in here and there) and continue the vicious cycle the next day. Getting skinny became my obsession. It was all I ever thought and spoke about. As hard as I tried, my body never got to the size those agencies wanted…

It wasn’t until I started experimenting with the weights(GASP!) in the gyms that my life began to change. At first, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing but I had a very good friend that was showing me the ropes. Ever since then, weight training has been one of my saving graces.

In June of 2012, I did a bodybuilding.com 6 week challenge. I was convinced that this was the time I would make a difference in my life. I was sick of all the yo-yo dieting and not having a healthy relationship with food that it was beginning to go towards depression. I set a goal for myself and made it happen. I didn’t end up winning but what I can say that that was a pivotal point in my life where my mentality shifted. I didn’t care about being the skinny model. I cared more about being a STRONG and HEALTHY woman. For myself. Not for anyone else.. especially not an agency. It was also during that time where I posted my first transformation picture on Instagram and it ended up being all over the place! After posting my transformation, I received such an overwhelmingly loving response that it was in that moment that I realized I wanted to encourage and help others.

It was then that I decided to get my Personal Training certification and start my YouTube Channel. I figured, if no one wanted to give me a chance, I’ll pave my own way and create an opportunity of my own. Starting my YouTube channel was the best thing I did. We’ve created a community of so many amazing people and it prides me every single day.

Today, 5 years after that challenge, I have competed in 6 NPC Bikini Competitions, been featured in Shape Magazine, The Huffington Post, SELF Magazine and Muscle Fitness Hers, just to name a few. I am also proud to say that I am now a sponsored athlete for bodybuilding.com & now, Optimum Nutrition. Still one of my proudest accomplishments to date.

I pride myself in creating an uplifting, high-energy environment where my clients have all the resources they need to thrive. My philosophy is rooted in self-love and helping both men and women find their best self as they work towards their goals. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
